Olga and Juan are a very special couple to me for several reasons--I had the chance to photograph both of them several years ago at Olga's sister's wedding. Their recent engagement shoot was one of my favorites of this year, and I love this couple's sweet and easy-going style. In addition to his day job, Juan owns a coffee and sandwich shop up in LA, and as a small business owner I always love meeting other people who make time to do what they love!
The day of their wedding, however, found me in the hospital. I was showing signs of preterm labor, and Baby Ivey at 28 weeks is just too early to make an appearance in the world! The awesome perinatal team at Kaiser in Irvine wanted to do everything to keep the baby in the oven cookin' for a few months longer. The doctors did not want an early discharge, and while I was dismayed at not being available for the wedding, I was thrilled to send one of my most trusty friends and fellow photographer, Karen, in to take care of Olga and Juan. She and second shooter Tim did an incredible job capturing their wedding day, from the many special looks the couples gave one another throughout the ceremony to beautiful portraits to a festive reception at the Alta Dena Country Club. Telling all these details beautifully is simply so important to me and I was proud of the job they did. I felt while reviewing the images and editing them that this couple's love--both towards one another as well as towards their family and friends--really got captured.
Congratulations to Olga and Juan on a beautiful wedding day celebration! Best wishes for a lifetime of commitment, love, and happiness.
